In the 50 blogs that I’ve written since starting this journey, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve recapped pieces of my journey various times and shared bits of wisdom and lessons learned along the way, so I wanted to take a different approach for a 50th blog reflection.
As I always say, curvy paths are more fun. While curvy paths led me to even starting my own business, I continued the curvy path within the first year of my business. Many of you have been along that journey as you’ve seen the ways that my blog and business have evolved.
So how do I love to serve my audience and clients 50 blogs later?
Storytelling is my specialty
I’ve always loved to tell stories, and writing is one of my favorite ways to tell stories, which is a big reason why this blog even started in the first place. When I started my writing business though, I thought the only way that I could tell stories was through this blog or writing books.
Boy was I wrong.
When I started copywriting in the Fall, I realized what a powerful role storytelling had in that service offering. For those who may not know, copywriting is basically any sort of writing for a business that has a call to action at the end. So this could be websites, advertisements, emails, newsletters, etc. The list goes on and on.
That may put in perspective for you the amount of writing that goes into businesses big and small. But what I hadn’t realized when I started offering this service was how storytelling would come into play.
As a copywriter who is focused on authenticity, so many of the deliverables that I offer have a story behind them. I love to promote the mission, brand, and values of the businesses I serve because I feel that, while it may not always be flashy or trendy, it is what will ultimately lead to long-term growth and the target customers.
So my journey has taught me all the ways that I can deploy my storytelling and writing abilities to serve others, and copywriting has proved how much I love doing this.
Ghostwriting is a new love
When I first started writing, I could have never imagined writing something but not having my name attached to it. How was I supposed to grow without people knowing what I wrote? Maybe I’d do it if the opportunity came up just so I could practice, I thought.
While I haven’t ghostwritten in the most traditional of ways (such as books, which I’d love to do), I consider much of my copywriting to be a form of ghostwriting. I help to bring business owners’ and leaders’ voices to life through words and stories.
The opportunity to do this lights me up! So many times, leaders get stuck “in” the business and then communicating the story, mission, or values gets lost in the mix because:
- They don’t have time to carve out to strategize and/or convey these messages.
- They don’t enjoy writing enough or can’t find the right words to get these tenets on paper.
- They feel that promoting these concepts will seem braggy (which it definitely isn’t, by the way).
When I get to know the client and help bring their voice, story, mission, and values to life, I see the joy and energy in their reaction. I see a renewal of why they’re doing what they’re doing.
And I could not be happier than to help bring their light, mission, and story to life. Everyone deserves to share their story, and I’m grateful to help make that a reality.
Coaching has never left
For those who have known me for a while, you know that I coached field hockey, softball, and basketball all throughout college and for almost a year afterward. I loved getting the opportunity to coach but gave it up to take up my business career.
Now, I find that I can satisfy this love of coaching in different ways. Copywriting has allowed me the opportunity to have a beautiful synergy of writing and coaching. When working with my clients, I get to help them focus on what’s important to them and bring those ideas to life.
Aside from the normal course of strategizing with my clients, I love to take a step back and help them refocus, refine, and refresh their mission, values, and strategy so that we can bring a fully aligned message to life. This allows me to be a coaching partner as well as use the words to bring those stories and missions to life.
Not to mention, I love being able to help others who are looking to unlock their creative potential and make money while living a life of joy, freedom, and fulfillment.
I find myself in the fortunate position that I get to explore so many varieties of passions that I love while helping others to level up their passions at the same time.
While I’m a writer and storyteller at heart, I’m also passionate about empowering others to pursue their creative journeys to make money or further elevate their businesses. If you’re looking for someone to take care of the words for you or help you refine your strategy, book a free strategy session with me!
