100 Blogs… I’d been thinking about what I wanted to write in my 100th blog for a while. I wanted something big and flashy and groundbreaking, but admittedly I struggled. I try to share big value from my own experiences every week. I take you guys authentically through my journey in real time.
I resigned myself to the fact that I really didn’t have anything special to write about in my 100th blog, but then….
I realized that showing up for the 100th blog was enough. Writing 100 blogs was a testament enough in itself. I thought back to my first blog and how nervous I was to share both my writing and my stories with the world. I thought about how many times I thought about quitting this blog series…. Maybe 50 was enough, maybe just posting on LinkedIn would be enough.
But I’m still showing up and still writing these blogs 100 posts and almost 2 years later. And that is enough.
This blog series has been and continues to be a testament to perseverance, not only in writing the blogs themselves but my journey along the way. If you’ve been following along for a while, you know the content of the blogs has evolved in the same way that my business has evolved.
Perseverance pays off. We may not see big jumps in our progress all at once, but when we take the time to reflect, we’re often blown away. Let’s chat more about that.
The Learning Curve
Sometimes we see immediate traction in our business offerings and sometimes it’s a slower roll. No matter what our initial traction looks like, there’s always a learning curve that eventually hits.
These blogs were a learning curve. My blogs now are much improved from my first few and get done way more efficiently. It took some time to get traction, and while I thought I’d generate income from affiliate marketing, the blog has actually been one of my biggest lead generators for my higher ticket offerings. But that took time.
I’ve also experienced the flip side of getting multiple clients in a week when I started the copywriting portion of my business. I thought, “Wow, this must be my calling because it seems so easy.”
But, in both cases, whether we start fast or start slow, there is always a learning curve. I’ve often needed to remind myself that this is normal and a good thing. No one is ever an expert right out of the gate and learning through the struggles is how we master our craft.
If we love what we do (even if we don’t love the learning curve portion), perseverance will get us to the other side.
Evolution of Mindset
Even though working through a learning curve may be an obvious step in trying something new, what is often unexpected in the journey is how your mindset is tested. This is especially true for those starting their own business.
The learning curve tests our belief in ourselves, unveils areas of ourselves that we may need to heal, and forces us to focus on our own mindsets for the longevity and success of our businesses.
For me, I’ve had to focus on hyper-achiever and perfectionist tendencies. I’ve also had to work on my belief in my own creativity, having come from a world of numbers and spreadsheets.
And just when we think we may have mastered or healed one aspect of our mindset, we often find ourselves peeling back more and more layers as we enter new levels of expansiveness along our journeys.
This is where perseverance comes into play. Persevering through mindset blockers and healing certain areas of ourselves not only benefits our business but also benefits us as a whole person.
Like No One Is Watching
There are many cliches for athletes about how they need to put in the work when no one is watching so they can perform when the crowd is there and the pressure is on. It’s no different in our vocation.
Many times as I’ve sat down to write these blogs, I’ve felt that no one really sees or cares about them. This was especially true when I was getting started, but I’ll admit that thought still occasionally pops into my head.
But then, I’ll get that golden nugget of a message from someone saying what an impact the blog has had on them or even someone requesting to work together after having seen the blog.
That’s why we keep showing up. That’s why we put in the work while no one is watching.
So we can make the impact that we were meant to make in the world.
While the blog and the intention behind it have evolved over time, these blogs have opened so many doors for me to make my impact on the world, and I’m so grateful to everyone who reads them and has been on the journey. Whether you’re joining now or have been around since Blog 1, thank you!
