Some may wonder… why rock the boat when you’ve got a good thing going?
My copywriting/strategic brand communication business has been amazing and has created so much freedom, joy, and success for me since its inception last year while also allowing me to serve others. I get to work with amazing clients and hype up some awesome businesses all while maintaining an awesome balance in my life.
And now I’ve expanded into the world of ghostwriting.
So why challenge myself with this expansion of services? It should come as no shock that I’m passionate about storytelling. My focus on memoirs, business books, and personal development books also goes hand in hand with communicating a personal brand story.
But the power of a ghostwritten book goes much further…
Creating win-win scenarios
Writing a book is a win-win. The person desiring to get their book out into the world wins and the readers win!
The production of a book is a whole experience for the author of the story. Even when it’s ghostwritten, they are getting the opportunity to reflect upon and share their story and knowledge with the world. And beyond the production of the book, the author gets to use the book to create new and exciting opportunities.
For readers, books create accessible knowledge and inspiration. They teardown gatekeeping of information and provide a wealth of knowledge at an affordable price. No expensive schools or courses, just a few bucks and a little bit of time to read or listen to your book of choice.
In the age of AI, social media, and search engines, books are a fantastic way to provide a focused, “one-stop shop” view of what a particular reader wants to learn about. It’s true that we have a world of information at our fingertips, but sometimes that takes some digging. What becomes even more difficult is knowing which sources to trust.
Which actually is a two way street…
Establishing authority
While readers are looking for who they can trust, authors are looking to establish authority, build their brand, and be that go-to person.
One of my favorite parts of copywriting and strategic communications is helping businesses communicate an impactful brand story. But this passion isn’t just limited to businesses. What I really love is the personal aspect of it.
Writing a book is an incredibly powerful way for authors to build their brand and gain authority. Let’s face it, if you can fill something like 250 pages of a book with your knowledge and stories on a particular topic, you know what you’re talking about with the experience to back it up.
Existing connections will see that and have an increased respect for you and your brand. But even more so, you’ll reach a broad audience that will then see you as an authority in your field which can open many doors for the author.
Creating good in the world
In a recent blog post, I talked about how it is not selfish for business owners to talk about the transformation they can provide to potential customers.
Books take this concept to a whole new level. When you author a book, you have the opportunity to teach your readers about the transformation that is possible for them. You are able to immerse them in what is possible, which creates positive impact in their lives.
Chances are readers will then be interested in existing services that the author provides. This creates more good in the world by allowing the author to further create positive change in the world through their goods, services, and connections.
This may even take the form of the reader following the author on social media. This creates more connection and allows for frequent opportunities for the author to continue to inspire, educate, and entertain the reader. Chances are that the reader will then refer the book and author to their friends, and the cycle starts all over again.
The benefits of writing a book span far beyond these three topics. The ripple effect of a book spans far beyond its authors and readers. This is the power of a good book.
